ADULTING I

Ready to be out on your own and live as an adult? Want to learn skills that will help you make that transition successful through a scientific lens? In this course, students will learn everything from changing oil to becoming a millionaire. Topics will include, financial planning and how to behave with money, home and auto repair, and preparing for emergency situations. How and when to buy or rent your living space. Students will also learn how to develop and build positive relationships. Students will develop personal, physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth for a healthy lifestyle. Additional life skills will be covered as well.
ADULTING II
Prerequisite: None Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12

Whereas Adulting 101 was a comprehensive course of many basic skills needed to be successful into adulthood, Adulting 102 dives deeper into fewer skills. It would be best to take Adulting 101 before 102 but that is not necessary to be successful. This course will focus on home and property maintenance, upkeep and repairs. Subjects included but not limited to plumbing, electrical wiring, IT, AV, roofing and drywall repair. Lawn and garden equipment purchasing, use and maintenance is also covered. Carpentry and safe use of power tools to include but limited to saws, drills and chainsaws. Students will develop personal, physical, emotional, social and intellectual growth so they can become resilient adults . Additional life skills will be covered as well.
LIFETIME WELLNESS I - FOOD AND NUTRITION
Prerequisite: None Grade: 9, 10, 11, 12

This class is an exploration of foods and how they affect our lives. You will learn basic kitchen procedures in food prep, cooking, and clean-up. There will be lessons on how to create a menu on a budget and how to cook for individuals and groups of people. You will explore different ethnic foods and their effect on our society. This is a class where you will develop essential cooking skills.

LIFETIME WELLNESS II- FOOD AND NUTRITION

This class will have a more concentrated learning of food preparation techniques. It will also have more in-depth learning of where our food comes from and how it is entered into our society.

Introduction to Public Safety Systems

Police, Fire, and EMS are the three main services that work together to resolve crises to the best of their abilities. In this course, the student will discover what it’s like to deal with emergencies from a variety of situations. This course will provide scenarios that portray real-life emergencies from which to learn. Professionals from each branch will lead the class in their quest toward a greater understanding of the public safety service ultimately leading to a very rewarding career in the world of public service. This course provides an opportunity to students to earn a CPR certification.
